چکیده

In a previous paper we reported an increase in the survival rate of activated macrophages in prostatic fluid (PF) and peripheral blood monocytes (PBMC) from nonbacterial prostatitis (NBT) patients after addition of phosphatidylserine (PS) to the culture medium. Continuing our studies, we cultured PBMC from NBP patients with lysate of macrophages in PF from NBP patients to see if certain amount of PS within activated macrophages in PF might stimulate PBMC and increase their survival rate, since macrophages in PF from NBP patients often contain large amounts of lipid particles. These macrophages are called oval fat macrophages. PBMC from heparinized venous blood from patients with a long history of NBP were

Low levels of IL-1ra versus IL-1 levels in prostatic fluid are not a cause of prolongation of prostatitis.

We have investigated the significance of leukocytosis1,2) and its prolongation3) in prostatic fluid (PF) from prostatitis patients. In a previous paper we reported an increase in the survival rate of peripheral blood monocytes (PBMC) when cultured with macrophages in PF from nonbacterial prostatitis (NBP) patients, possibly due to cytokines secreted from the macrophages, because elevated interl...

Prevalence of corynebacterial 16S rRNA sequences in patients with bacterial and "nonbacterial" prostatitis.

The etiology of chronic prostatitis syndromes in men is controversial, particularly when positive cultures for established uropathogens are lacking. Although identification of bacteria in prostatic fluid has relied on cultivation and microscopy, most microorganisms in the environment, including some human pathogens, are resistant to cultivation. We report here on an rRNA-based molecular phyloge...

Comparison of computed tomographic and cytological results in evaluation of normal prostate, prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia in dogs

Prostate gland can be structurally evaluated by computed tomography (CT) with taking advantages of tomographic feature and post-contrast parenchymal changes. The current examination initiated to determine association between computed tomographic and cytological results in evaluation of canine prostate. Thirty mature male dogs were included and under gone by both CT and fine needle sampling of p...

Proteinase-Activated Receptor-1 and Immunomodulatory Effects of a PAR1-Activating Peptide in a Mouse Model of Prostatitis

BACKGROUND Nonbacterial prostatitis has no established etiology. We hypothesized that proteinase-activated receptor-1 (PAR1) can play a role in prostatitis. We therefore investigated the effects of PAR1 stimulation in the context of a new model of murine nonbacterial prostatitis. METHODS Using a hapten (ethanol-dinitrobenzene sulfonic acid- (DNBS-)) induced prostatitis model with both wild-ty...

The Anti-Inflammatory Effects of a New Herbal Formula (WSY-1075) in a Nonbacterial Prostatitis Rat Model

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of a new herbal formula (WSY-1075) in a nonbacterial prostatitis rat model. MATERIALS AND METHODS Prostatitis was induced in male Wistar rats (n=32) by treatment with 17 beta-estradiol and dihydrotestosterone for 4 weeks. After the induction of prostatitis, the rats were randomly divided into one of four treatment ...
